231 by Design: Rustic Farmhouse Wedding Save the Date

Today I thought I'd share a save the date that I recently created for some good friends of mine that are having a wedding celebration later this year.

When I met with the couple they told me they wanted to go rustic. The wedding celebration will be taking place at their home, a three acre parcel in Sonoma County that we have lovingly come to describe as "the farm". The girls will be wearing cowboy boots and carrying sunflowers, and the tables will have burlap runners and mason jars. In other words, my kind of wedding!

So I created this save the date with a sunflower logo and a fun image of a barn I pulled from, then manipulated to fit the colorscheme.

They are a beautiful family, and actually tied the knot in a civil ceremony before the birth of their daughter Grace (now one year old), so I wanted to create a graphic that represented that they are already a family that is coming together to celebrate, hence the adorable silhouette at the bottom of the card.

I wish I could take credit for this fabulous photo, but I can't. They had it professionally taken. I added the M&J logo and got the magnets printed at and they did a fabulous job!

I attached the magnet to the front of the card using photo corners, which worked out perfectly, but then I started to worry that people wouldn't understand it was a magnet and it wouldn't actually make it to their fridges. So I got creative and added a piece of easy to remove washi tape with the words "I'm a Magnet" handwritten on it.

I think it might even add a piece of personality to the overall design.

We finished the card off with a cornflower blue envelope, their secondary color for the wedding.

Here's a pic of it on my fridge, held up by one of my Instagram Magnets.

  2. I am still receiving compliments from all our guests. The food was delicious from appetizer to dessert. The manger and his staff at banquet halls in Miami were extremely professional.

  3. Good one! I am taking ideas from here. I want to become a wedding planner and I am taking my best friend’s wedding as my first solo project. I have finalized a beautiful event space San Francisco for her wedding day and I am collecting nice ideas online to make her day a really good one.
